About Lightray AI, an AI automation consultancy

Lightray AI is the AI and automation practice of Light Ray Solutions, founded by Edward Pinela, who has spent more than twenty years building data and integration systems. The work is deliberately senior and deliberately narrow: a small number of projects at a time, run by the people who actually build them.

Why the practice exists

A great deal of money is currently being spent on AI that never reaches production. The pattern is consistent — an impressive pilot, a stakeholder demo, and then nothing, because the pilot was never connected to the systems where the work actually happens and nobody owned the exceptions.

We started this practice to do the opposite: take one process that is visibly costing a business time, build the thing properly including all the unglamorous parts, and hand it over so it keeps running whether or not we are still involved. That is a smaller promise than most AI messaging, and it is one we can actually keep.

How we choose what to take on

We say no to work fairly often. A project has to have a process worth automating, systems we can genuinely integrate with, and someone on the client side empowered to make decisions about edge cases. Missing any of those three, the project tends to end badly for both sides regardless of how good the technology is.

We are also not an enterprise transformation partner and do not try to be. Companies that need a large programme with formal procurement and a dozen workstreams are better served elsewhere, and we would rather say so during the first call.

What we will not do

A short list, because it explains more about how we work than a values statement would:

• We do not invent numbers. There are no fabricated client counts, case-study percentages, or testimonials anywhere on this site. As a new practice, the honest position is that our track record is being built — inventing one would be both a trust problem and, in the US, an FTC endorsement rules problem.
• We do not lock clients in. Everything is built in your accounts on mainstream platforms and handed over documented. No proprietary runtime, no dependency on us.
• We do not use client data to train models. Builds run on enterprise API tiers where inputs and outputs are excluded from training, scoped to the minimum data the task needs.
• We do not recommend building when the answer is not to. Sometimes a process change, or a product you already own, is the right call. Saying so is the job.

Who you are actually dealing with

Edward Pinela, the founder, has worked in data and systems integration for over twenty years — most of it on the unglamorous side of the discipline: getting systems that were never designed to talk to each other to exchange information reliably. AI changes what is possible at a few steps in that chain. It does not change the fact that most of the work is integration.

The practice operates under Light Ray Solutions on LinkedIn, which is the place to check who we are before a first call. We hold no vendor partnership badges and claim none; where a certification would be relevant to your project, ask and we will tell you plainly whether we hold it.

Where we work

Remote-first and working with clients across the United States, with on-site availability across Southern California where a project needs people in a room. There is no published office address because there is no walk-in office — the work happens in your systems and on calls with your team.
